Crippled and Emotional.

Racing...

Ok I just had my apendix out and so played camp Mum for our 'Crippled and Emotional' single speed team for the Wild Wellington 12 hour event a couple of weeks back.

Paul smith opened up our first lap planning to move so quickly that nobody would see him.

Unfortunatly for the other riders some folk did notice Paul and may still be recieving trauma therapy as a result - His photo was also there on the updated Wild Wellington home page for a while untill complaints got his pink packed, shrink wrapped wedding tackle removed from the mainstream..

We came 6th in open class but most importantly I think we all had a classy day hanging with good friends..

The moral of this story? - "Wear less and ride fast!"

The 'Concrete E' reloaded

I have been riding Maidstone skatepark with kids from school and with Mike the Hippy..

I have to say it's a VERY cool feeling getting lots of riding in despite heavy rains and washed out winter singletracks. Lots of pumping and jumping and finding good lines through features. VERY surfy feel when you are pumping a bike along sustainably and not pedalling...

In celebration I am reprinting the original 'concrete e' with a bigger image, brighter plastisol inks and 2 shirt colours - kelly green / charcoal grey for men and kelly green / powder blue for the ladies)

Available in both men and womens cut on top quality fitted garments. Bright red rear shoulder and neck artwork.

$45nz plus postage - knee and elbow pads not included. Click 'Concrete E' title to redirect to online shop.

emotion huck hoodies

Day dreaming about going big when all the poo weather decides to stop..

Reminds me of the road gap to step up sequence Rod has built up at the Kapiti mtb park.

Meet Jarod - Wainuiomata's / Emotion's first sponsored dh racer (I hope he can see where he is going at Wanganui this weekend with all that hair!) We ride Spoonhill and skateparks together - he puts the 'K' in keen.. (he got 4th at wanganui, mising out on 3rd and the podium by a crash and 7 seconds - gutted!!)

Hoodies only in this print, Shown on Navy and also available in Red. Warm and V. toasty for winter, $80 - (Get to online shop by clicking emotion huck hoodies title.)

i like bike hoodies.

I am not sure if being in to bikes makes it easier to read or even harder!!

I have always enjoyed stuffing around with the shape of things and making my own letter charectors out of random bits..

Available in two colours - concrete grey hoodies and dark charcoal grey ones

First steps in to Plastisol inks, bright opaque colours, very exciting..

Cost - $80 for now - click on 'i like bike hoodies' title to redirect to online shop.

'Stop Grid Lock'

Inspired by my early morning bike rides to work in Wainuiomata from Wellington a couple of years ago. Watching that endless volume of car commuter traffic backing up around the harbour.

Photos are of my friends Paula Umbers and Jason Markham (A fine pair of bikey types) - not the best picture quality but you get the idea.

Just completed and sold all the shirts from a ladies style print run - did grey on pink and grey on powder blue - cool!
Ink and shirt olours will change from time to time in this edition to keep shirts feeling individual for the owners and save me from feeling like a manufacturer.

They are going out for $40 promotional price for now - let me know if you want one.

What it's all about..

After 4 years of full time teaching at Wainuiomata High School and a year and a half as a head of year I made the decision to become a part time teacher for 2008.

I run in the hills before school, teach Graphic and Three Dimensional Design and thrive on the energy of my students. After work I take my bike and my dog up in to the hills for a blast down some epic singletrack.

On the weekends I spend Saturday mornings digging new mountain bike tracks with my fellow volunteers (check out blog.wtp.org.nz) here in Wainuiomata. Sundays is for riding bikes, surfing and hanging out with friends.

If it's too wet to ride or there's no surf I spend time in the garden shed working on new printmaking projects for 'emotion' - life's good!

My background training is in Design / Sculpture and secondary teaching. I migrated from Britain to NZ in 1997, surfed my brains out in Taranaki for a few years before moving to Wainuiomata to teach Design in the high school in 2004.

I got in to bikes, riding with friends around Wellington, founded the Wainuiomata Trail Project in 2005/6, won two 12 hour open mens solo titles in 2007 and set up emotion clothing in the autumn of 2008.
